With over three decades of employee benefits experience, Doug Calow has built a solid group benefits and pension brokerage firm, servicing business owners throughout Simcoe County and the GTA. Doug continues to work on being client-focused and providing timely, relevant information to clients regarding the benefits industry.

Doug graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and started his career with one of Canada’s largest insurance carriers. After spending seven years in management he returned to what he enjoyed the most and started building his own independent practice.

As a result of growing to one of Simcoe County’s largest benefits brokerage firms, Doug was asked to join The Benefits Alliance Group, Canada’s leading National Independent Employee Benefits Alliance. The Benefits Alliance group pools resources from like minded benefits consultants across Canada to enhance Market Intelligence and drive competitive programs for their clients.

Calow Benefits Group’s success has allowed Doug to give back to his community and continue to enjoy his passion for cottage life in Parry Sound.

Gitte joined our team in 2003. Born and raised in Denmark, she came to Calow Benefits Group with a degree in International Marketing and an extensive background in client service coordination and business management.

Gitte oversees the daily operations at Calow Benefits and manages client service requirements. She is vital to the ongoing success of our mission to be service focused and diligent in meeting our clients’ needs. Gitte ensures that our plan administrators/business owners receive the best support possible and that any potential issues surrounding plan administration, claims etc. are resolved effectively.

Further, Gitte analyzes and negotiates all annual Group Benefits renewals and conducts ongoing market studies, ensuring premiums are fair and competitive to benchmarking.

Off duty, Gitte is passionate about her family and enjoys the great outdoors hiking, biking and golfing.

Carolyn joined the Calow Benefits team in 2021, with a wealth of experience in Financial Services.

She worked at King and Bay with stock brokerage firms, mutual fund administration and call centres.

Carolyn has been a sales assistant to investment advisors in boutique firms, and as a banker, helped many people with investments and borrowing needs.
It is key to our firm to have someone with the knowledge this experience brings. Carolyn is our lead client service representative and is your first stop in assessing your need, whether that is for your Group Retirement or Individual RRSP.

Carolyn has 2 young adults that she is very proud of and aims to spend as much time as possible with. She also has a small dog who is happy to help get those 10,000 steps/day.

After travelling and working in South-East Asia for four years, Darin returned to Canada looking for a career change. In 2013, after completing several courses, Darin was recruited by one of Canada’s largest insurance companies as a Financial Security Advisor and ultimately joined the team at Calow Benefits Group in 2014.

Having secured his Life and Mutual Fund Licences, Darin’s major focus is to provide financial security for our clients and help business owners protect their companies and employees.

Often, when we work for a great company, we take our corporate health and insurance benefits for granted, but rarely do we maximize them nor take the time to understand their limitations. Darin is committed to educating our clients and providing customized solutions to ensure that our business owners and their staff have coverage that suits their particular needs and meets their financial expectations.

As a father of two, Darin understands the importance of protecting your family from potential difficult situations and life-changing events that may occur during life’s journey. Outside of his commitment to his family, Darin is an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys a variety of activities such as hockey, golf and baseball.
